Every trip we organize is not only an invitation to discover the natural wonders of Costa Rica, but also a concrete way to contribute to sustainable and socially responsible tourism.
We believe that travel can have a positive impact on local communities and the environment. That's why, for every trip, Atípico Costa Rica makes a donation to local organizations that are actively working to protect nature and improve the well-being of local populations. Among our key partners are the NGO Equipo Tora Carey, based in El Jobo, and the Family Support Center of Ojochal association in the south of the country.
Support sea turtle conservation with Equipo Tora Carey
Equipo Tora Carey is an organization dedicated to the preservation of sea turtles and biodiversity on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, in the El Jobo region. The NGO focuses its efforts on the olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), a critically endangered species that comes to lay its eggs on local beaches.
Its main activities include:
Monitoring and protecting nests: volunteers provide continuous monitoring to locate and protect nests from predators and human disturbance.
Community awareness: educational programs to encourage residents and visitors to respect natural habitats.
Scientific monitoring and reintroduction: monitoring and release activities increase the chances of survival for turtles in their natural environment.
By supporting Equipo Tora Carey, we are helping to preserve an iconic Costa Rican species and the health of marine ecosystems that are essential to global biodiversity.
Supporting local families with the Family Support Center of Ojochal
Located in the South Pacific region, the Family Support Center of Ojochal works to improve the quality of life for local families in precarious situations. Its actions focus on education, health, and food security.
Its main initiatives include:
Food assistance: providing food and basic necessities to families in need.
Summer club: creating social, educational, and developmental opportunities for children and young people.
Adult development: Creating opportunities for parents to develop skills that are useful in everyday life and work.
Transportation: Ensuring that families can get to their medical appointments.
By supporting this association, Atípico Costa Rica contributes to the resilience and well-being of local communities by promoting mutual aid and solidarity.
A model of responsible tourism in Costa Rica
We are delighted to be working with these two exemplary organizations to build a model of tourism that combines environmental sustainability and social equity. Choosing to travel with Atípico Costa Rica means directly supporting concrete projects that protect nature and improve the lives of local people.
Our ambition is to create a chain of solidarity that goes beyond simple travel. Each reservation represents a positive action, a gesture that contributes to the preservation of ecosystems and the harmonious development of Costa Rican communities.
